Soft kut (Linoleum print)
My most successful print was the Linoleum print. The first thing that I had to do was draw a picture that had to do with the fall season, on a piece of paper. Then I had to trace the image from the paper to the linoleum. After that I had to decide what size carving gouge I wanted to use. Once I decided what size, I had taken the gouge and carved out the image. When I had finished carving, I had chose a color, then used a brayer to roll out some paint out a bench hook. Then I rolled the paint onto the linoleum and placed a piece of paper on top, after that I used a barren to smooth it out. Finally, I lifted up the paper and was finished with my print. The reason that this print was so successful for me was because I had already had some experience with this type of printing, so it was easier for me.
The print that I would redo if I could would be my screen print. When creating this piece I had to draw an image on a piece of paper. After I drew the image, I had to cut out my image. Then I tapped my stencil to the screen. I had placed a piece of paper underneath the screen so that I could have a final print. Then I chose which colors I wanted to use, then I put some paint at the top of the screen. Once I added the paint, I used a squeegee to drag down the paint. I made sure that I got all of the corners of my stencil. Finally I took my paper from underneath the screen and had a nice final print.
The print that I liked the most was monoprinting. In order to create this print I had to choose a color that I liked, but instead I chose two colors that I liked and then blend them together. After I blended them together on a bench hook with a brayer, I had used a shaper to draw my image in the paint. Then I used a texture roller to add the lines in the background to make it stand out. Once I finished drawing my painting, I took a piece of paper and placed it on top. Then I smoothed it out and I was finished. The reason that I liked monoprinting more than the other prints is because It was really fun for me and relaxing. Plus it was really easy and I never tried it before, but I like trying new things, so I enjoyed it.
